Single or Singles .. not married, or not having a romantic relationship with someone:- a single woman/man/personBlind Date This term is used when you are set up on a date, usually by friends, with a complete and total stranger. On most blind dates, neither person has ever met the other, let alone even seen the person. So in a blind date, you are usually meeting and seeing this person for the first time ever. Date to make or to have a social appointment with a member of the opposite sex, to have such appointments with the same person regularly. Dating Service Any service, be it on-line, phone-based, or some sort of social event that sets people up with others. These services usually require you to pay a fee for their use. There are many types of dating services, with on-line dating services becoming the most popular in recent years, namely because they are so easy to access and allow you to post full, in-depth profiles with pictures. Double Date This term refers to two couples going on a date together as a group. I.E. Jack and Jill are going to go to a fine restaurant and dance the night away, and decide to invite John and Jane, their friends, to join them. Double Dates are usually very good for early relationships, where it is convenient for either partner to have someone they can relate to with the other paired couple. It is also common for blind dates to end up becoming double dates, especially when the other couple are mutual friends of the two on the blind date. Matchmaker The term given to a person or people who set up people to go on a date. Matchmakers tend to be good at finding similarities between people, and then setting those people up. Personals Listings of single people wanting to meet other people for friendship, relationship and more. Usually found in newspapers, magazines and most predominantly online. There are many, many websites available for online personal listings.
